The whole wine-growing region of Makedonia plays a pivotal role in winemaking while the wine production in recent years has increased especially in the region of Serres and Kastoria. As concerns the PDO zone of Amyntaio, it belongs to one of the four that produces sparkling wines with the designation of origin in Greece, including the sparkling white wines “Zitsa”, sparkling rose wines “Amyntaio”, sparkling white “Mantinea” and “Rodos” correspondingly.
