CITY WALLS: The history of Thessaloniki is written on its walls including the Hellenistic and then the Roman era, starting from the 4th century. The walls have a total perimeter of 8 kilometers!
ROTUNDA: This monument with a diameter of 24.50 meters & a height of 29.80 meters was originally consecrated in honor of Constantine the Great and then converted into a Christian temple!
SAINT DEMETRIOS: At the place where Saint Demetrius was imprisoned & martyred in 303 AD, a church was consecrated in the 5th century. It was burned down in 620 & also in 1917!
BASILICA CHURCH OF THE ACHIROPOIETOS: Anointed in the 5th century on the ruins of the Roman baths with distinctive architectural sculptures & exquisite art mosaics.
HAGIA SOFIA: Built in the 7th century in imitation of the Hagia Sophia of Constantinople with a distinctive mosaic decoration
PANAGIA CHALKEON: Byzantine church, built in 1028, with three domes and preserved frescoes, the influence of the architecture of Constantinople is obvious!
BYZANTINE BATHS: Built in the 13th century. Today the only parts preserved are the vestibule along with the warm area and the tank.
SAINT PANTELEIMONAS: It is Interwoven with the Monastery of Theotokos Peribleptos, also known as the Monastery of Mr. Isaac, after the name of its founder, who was a metropolitan named Iakovos.
HOLY APOSTOLES: Anointed in 1310, it is one of the most representative examples of architecture of the Paleologian period.
SAINT NIKOLAOS ORFANOS: It has a particularly rich fresco decoration, it is one of the most representative examples of Palaeologan Renaissance painting.
SAINT AIKATERINI: The interior decoration that is partially preserved dates back to 1315.
CHURCH OF THE SAVIOUR: It was built after 1340 probably as a burial chapel of a Byzantine monastery.
VLATADES MONASTERY: Founded in the middle of the 14th century, it is the only monastery of the Byzantine period in the city that is still functioning today.
PROPHET ELIAS: One of the most representative examples of church building of the Palaeologan period.
